You’ve probably heard of microdosing mushrooms by now. If you haven’t then I don’t know what rock you’ve been hiding under, but it’s okay, no need to panic. The Bright Future Crew is here to help you out.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about… Microdosing is taking 1/10 to 1/20 of a “trip” dose of Psilocybin. You can also microdose other substances like acid, but here at Bright Future, we’re all about our mushrooms.
Microdosing mushrooms is practiced by people from all walks of life, for all kinds of reasons. Psilocybin is a naturally occurring psychedelic compound found in over 200 species of mushrooms, aka:” magic mushrooms” or “shrooms”. Psilocybin mushrooms are found almost everywhere in the world and have originally been used in traditional medicine, and for religious and spiritual purposes. Magic mushrooms are commonly known to be the trippy good time you want to have with your friends in the forest type of mushrooms, buuut, microdosing these mushrooms is a different story with many other benefits than just a good time.
How Does Microdosing Mushrooms Work?
When we talk about microdosing, we’re changing the narrative from getting goofy in the woods, to real life day to day benefits like improvement in mood, energy, productivity and overall human optimization. Typically a microdose is 1/10 to 1/20 of a “trip” dose which is usually 1-3g (this varies person to person). A microdose is defined as a small amount that is under the perceptual threshold – you don’t feel it. Of course this varies person to person depending on weight, diet and metabolism. When To Dose
When you’re first starting out, take just one capsule preferably in the beginning of the day so you’re not kept up at night with all that energy! Some people prefer to take with food to minimize the effects. Some people prefer to take their dose on an empty stomach to enhance the effects. It’s totally up to you! There’s no right or wrong.
Follow a dosing schedule like the ones below for a few months and then take a bit of a break. You can try out a new schedule when you start up again, or just dose for big projects or events like a job interview, school presentation or maybe even a first date if you’re feeling a little anxious.

There’s a ton of different dosing schedules, but here are the 2 most popular: the Fadiman and the Stamets protocols. The Fadiman protocol calls for dosing every third day, and the Stamets protocol calls for 5 days of dosing and 2 days off. You can follow a different schedule if you wish, just be sure to take a couple days off in between to prevent build up of tolerance. Keep track of how you feel during your microdosing journey. What To Expect

What To Look Out For
Generally speaking, microdosing Psilocybin is pretty safe. The chances of addiction or overdose are slim to none. You should NOT try microdosing if:
- You are colourblind
- You have a diagnosed psychotic disorder such as Autism or Bipolar
- You are taking SSRIs or other depression medication (speak with your doctor)
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding. There just hasn’t been enough research done on this yet.
